New Moon definitely seems to be the Star Wars of today.  The movie came to life nationwide at 12:01am on 11.20.09 and boasted a huge turn out.  People were camping out hours in advance to get the best seat in the house to see the Werewolf vs.Vampire love triangle.

We bought our tickets 6 weeks in advance for a showing on 11.21.09 and now we are glad that we did.  Nationwide theatres had at least half of their screens showing New Moon for the 12:01am premier and the there was not one ticket left to be purchased.  Our showing has sold out along with five other showings on the same day in the same theatre.  This is the first time we have all been so excited and anxious for a new movie to come out and it feels a little strange.

So far the reviews have been what I expected, great.  The few negative reviews that I saw were obvious to me, of course you cannot see a sequel without seeing the first movie and expect to know what is going on and be able to follow it.  The others that cast the same negative light obviously do this for their career and did not read the books and perharps this type of movie would not have been of interest to them no matter how it was protrayed.  On the flip side, you do not have to read the book that inspires a movie to both understand it and like it, ie: Kiss the Girls - good movie, awesome book!

All of us here saw the first move (Twilight) before reading the books.  I liked the movie, but heard that the books were better, so I grabbed Twilight at the checkout one day and I could not put it down after I started.  I finished all 4 books in 3 weeks.  After watching New Moon, I may just start them all over again.

What side are you on?  Me, "Team Jake" all the way!  I am the lone ranger in the office when it comes to vampires vs. werewolves.  I think that will change after seeing New Moon and how Jake is portrayed.

We will post our own review after we see the movie, but would love to hear your thoughts and comments on both the movie and the books.
